Evolving from strict functional modernism to a symbolic
geometry of rich materials, Louis Kahn's buildings have an existential
presence absent in most of what has been build since.
The pre-tour talk will explore the philosophical bases for Kahn's
design and show how his thought could improve today's architecture.
Architect Christopher Glass studied at Yale, where Kahn taught
in the 1950s, with members of the first generation of Kahns pupils,
Robert Venturi and Charles Moore.
