Robert
Kirkbride (Ph.D., McGill University; M.Arch, BA, University of
Pennsylvania) is director of studio 'patafisico and a fulltime
faculty member of Parsons The New School for Design, where he
coordinates thesis year in the Product Design Department. In
addition to scholarly research, his design investigations include
architecture, ecological land planning, furniture and installations,
and have been exhibited and published widely. Kirkbride has been
a visiting scholar at the Canadian Centre for Architecture (Montreal),
and architect-in-residence at the Bogliasco Foundation (Genoa,
Italy). His dissertation on the mutual influences of architecture
and memory in the Renaissance studioli of Federico da Montefeltro
received the Gutenberg-e Prize from the American Historical Association
and will be published by Columbia University Press (2007). Kirkbride
lives in New York City.
