Andrew
I-kang Li is an associate professor in the Department of Architecture,
The Chinese University of Hong Kong. He is interested in computational
approaches to teaching and studying all aspects of architecture,
from the design process to architectural history. Li was born
in Montreal, Canada, and has an LMus in piano performance (McGill
University, Canada), an AB in Chinese (Harvard University, USA),
an MArch (Harvard), and a PhD in architecture (Massachusetts
Institute of Technology, USA). He studied Chinese architectural
history at Nanjing Institute of Technology (now Southeast University)
as a China / Canada government exchange scholar. He has also
taught in the Department of Architecture, Tunghai University,
Taiwan, and worked as an architect in Boston, USA.
Prof. Li presented "Algorithmic Architecture in Twelfth-Century
China: the Yingzao Fashi" at the Nexus 2002 conference.
