Dario Parigi is Associate Professor in “Innovative Design of Structures” at the Department of the Built Environment of Aalborg University.

In 2003 he graduated at the Politecnico di Torino in “Architecture Sciences” (Bachelor), and in 2007 in “Architecture and Construction” (Master of Science). In 2011 he got a PhD from the same University, at the Department of Civil Engineering and the Department of Housing and City, with a thesis entitled: “Kinematics of Reciprocal Frames – Towards Adaptable Structures for Architectural Heritage”. In 2010 he was visiting PhD student at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in the Building Technology Lab, supervised by John Ochsendorf.

Since 2011 he is employed at Aalborg University; in 2021 he became the Head of SUSTAIN2 - Research Group on Sustainable Structures and Construction. He advocates the development of tools, technologies and methods, and their role in leveraging creativity and new forms of integration between engineering, architectural and societal issues. At present, he investigates novel practices to reduce the environmental impact of buildings, with a specific focus on loadbearing structures.

His latest article in the Nexus Network Journal is "The Parigi Mechanism: A Novel 1-DOF Mechanism and Its Application as a Kinetic Reciprocal System (KRS) Adaptive Facade"
