It’s a very simple logo. The design stimuli came from the architecture and mathematics and their solid bond to the universe. In the logo design, you will find the black circle which represents the universe, the yellow cone is for the form of architecture as a tower, and the circle in its downward is simply like the one existed in the FOUNTAIN PEN, as the main task for Nexus is to publish as that’s to indicate your authenticity. The letter “X” I chose to be like the multiplication sign in Mathematics, so it's a reference to your other area of specialization adding to architecture. I liked to add a verbal slogan inspired from the word NEXUS:
NE: Never
X (Multiplication ): Times sign in Math
US: Us
To be : Never Times Us..... Which simply means don't plan, schedule, or arrange us as we are unexpected and unique .... and Times equal to the Multiplication and the Verb.

Logo design that shows a sketch of the building, together with the number of lines as a symbol of sacred geometry. It is part of the basic construction of a building process that has been practised by all architects.

I tried to comply with the following conditions:

  • to show the relationship between architecture and mathematics indirectly, with some humor;
  • to avoid representing only one concrete and real example of architecture in style, age, etc.;
  • to avoid a complex picture with details that could be seen only at large scale;
  • to show the reference to the computer as a neutral background, but still related with any case.

The basic idea upon which I created this logo was to show the direct relationship between the FORMULA of the area of a circle (Pi x R2) and o CIRCLE mostly filled in with buildings represented in an illustration manner. I consider that the relation between a simple and basic geometric formula and the circular shape shown is obvious. The building illustration pattern used is my own creation used in some of the murals done by myself in the framework of the Timisoara Street Art Festivals 2011 – 2015.

The logo expresses the “nexus” of architecture and mathematics proposing a stylized detail of a well-known free-form structure: the skin of the Heydar Aliyev Center in Baku, Azerbaijan, designed by Zaha Hadid. The design suggests the complex surface development and refers to contemporary architecture and to the advanced computing required to realize this kind of structures from sketch to building.

Mardin's date of birth is based on the year 3000 BC, so the city "where the living solved math" will not be wrong to describe it as. The pictures of the characters of the word “nexus” is of Mardin. The picture in the main text "kundekari" called octagon, pentagon, of small pieces of wood cut in geometric shapes like a star without the help of nails and glue the woodwork only be obtained by pasting to each other. The best examples of “kundekari” 12th century Egypt, Syria, Palestine and Anatolia prevailing in the Turkish-Islamic architecture and art in the next century is only seen in Anatolia (until the 16th century).

The design was created considering the architecture and the inherent importance of mathematics in the architectural concepts. No structure on this earth is possible without correct mathematical calculations about the center point, width, height, and other proportions of the structure. Mathematics is the very foundation and continuous support system for the architecture and architectural concepts. It’s the mathematics that balances the very structure of any monument. Here in this logo, the venue itself with the unique La Concha Bay being the main feature of Donostia-San-Sebastian, was an inspiration to be included in the logo. I have used the island in the middle of the sea at Donostia-San-Sebastian for showing the nexus between the architecture and mathematics of the structure that could be the future modern monument to be created on the island.

The logo design is inspired by the characteristic shape of La Concha Bay where Donostia-San Sebastian stands. The form recalls a branch of epicycloid, a mathematical curve generated by the movement of a point. The curve is thought to be the directrix which symbolically depicts the urban architecture as well as its revolution.
