*Qualifying criteria: Only journals with an external editorial board that receive ten or more responses from published corresponding authors in 2020 were considered in the analysis. The journal also had to receive an overall satisfaction score of or over the mean average for the year. From this selection of journals the top performing journals were chosen based on their mean score for the two statements “The editorial advice and comments throughout the process helped to improve the paper" and "The editors managed the peer review process well", asked about on a 5 point scale: strongly disagree (1), disagree (2), neutral (3), agree (4), strongly agree (5).

NEXUS 2020 postponed to 2021
We have been closely monitoring the situation of COVID-19 in order to decide what is best for us to do about our Nexus 2020 conference planned for 21-24 July.
In light of the uncertainties about the eradication of the threat of the virus and the possible continuation of quarantine to greater or lesser extends, and the risks of international travel and meetings of groups of people, we have decided that it is in the best interests of all to postpone the conference until 2021. This is disappointing, of course, because we were very much looking forward to the meeting this summer, but our thoughts are first and foremost to preserve the health of all.
Our plan at the moment is to leave conference plans in place and simply carry them out next year (probably 26 – 29 July 2021). The conference book that was planned for 2020 will go forward with publication in 2021 and be available at the time of the conference.
We will publish new deadlines for registration and payment of the conference fees in time on our website.
We hope that you all will be then able to attending NEXUS in 2021. Looking forward to see you then in Kaiserslautern, Germany.

At the request of the Guest Editors, the deadline for submissions for "Patterns and Spatial Organisation" has been extended. The new deadline is:
Friday 15 May 2020.
This is a firm deadline and there will be no further extension.

The Nexus Network Journal is pleased to announce its 2020 impact factors: the 2-year IF is 0.338, while the 5-year IF is 0.541, a substantial gain over 2019.
The Nexus Network Journal is entering a new phase. Kim Williams, founder of the NNJ, is retiring. As of 1 January 2023, ownership of the Nexus Network Journal will pass to Springer Nature Switzerland AG, and Michael Ostwald will become the sole Editor-in-Chief.
At the Nexus Network Journal, co-published by Kim Williams Books and Birkhäuser, we care about making sure that the research published in our journal is as widely circulated as possible. That is why we have a policy of restricting material to subscribers only for a short time, and releasing earlier articles to all interested readers. I am pleased to say that as of now, all material from vols. 1 to 13 is now open access.

We are also pleased to say we have an h-index of 10.
